Ever since the language was created, many developments have now been made to the language with the introduction of more complex and distinctive grammar. The purpose of forming this language was to bridge the communication gap between two groups who do not share a common language. The former means “talk” and the latter “Pidgin”. It is one of the official languages of Papua New Guinea. Pidgin is defined as the new and initially simple form of language that emerges from the interaction between two or more groups that do not share a common language.Īlso recognized as the “New Guinea Pidgin”, Tok Pisin is a combination of two words “Tok” and “Pisin”.
Tok Pisin is a creole language, also known as the Pidgin English or Pidgin Papua New Guinea. In a country where more than 800 languages are being spoken, breathes one language that prevails the most and is widely understood throughout the country.
